Our environmental impact is important to us, and that is why we have one central hub for our operations—Los Angeles, California. By committing to a single facility, we are able to reduce our carbon footprint and have greater control over our labor standards. We stand committed to partnering with factories and individuals who believe in the reduction of carbon emissions, non-renewable energy sources, chemical and water usage, and we look forward to introducing even more sustainable and biodegradable materials into our collections.

Meaning and Inspiration

 

BLACK / BLK (Art)

Prehistoric. 

Ancient. 

Black was one of the first colors used in art. The Lascaux Cave in France contains drawings of bulls and other animals drawn by Paleolithic artists between 18,000 and 17,000 years ago. They began by using charcoal and later achieved darker pigments by burning bones or grinding a powder of manganese oxide. 

For the ancient Egyptians, black had positive associations. It was their color of life and fertility, and every year when the Nile river flooded, they called the black soil that emerged from it “The Gift of the Nile.” 

Ancient Egyptians also called the Nile the “Aur”, which means black.

 

BURD  (scientific name Aves)

Birds are a group of warm-blooded vertebrates constituting the class Aves, characterized by feathers, toothless beaked jaws, the laying of hard-shelled eggs, a high metabolic rate, a four-chambered heart, and a strong yet lightweight skeleton. 

 

GENE 

As a biological term, genes are a sequence of nucleotides that provide instructions for the growth, development, function, and reproduction of all plants and animals—and even some viruses.

Genes allow for the expression of traits that are inheritable through reproduction.
